High Frequency Direct Organogenesis in Five Romanian Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) Cultivars

Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) as the most economically important vegetable crop worldwide has been investigated intensively for development of new and improved varieties. Most these technologies require efficient protocols in vitro regeneration propagation plant material. In present study, an reproducible system five Romanian tomato genotypes (cvs. ‘Capriciu’, ‘Darsirius’, ‘Kristin’, ‘Pontica’ ‘Siriana’) established. The were selected based on their horticultural valuable traits. To study morphogenic response, various explants, such cotyledons, cotyledonary nodes, hypocotyls, leaf internodes, stem nodes apical buds have selected. highest efficiency terms direct shoot organogenesis was obtained cv. ‘Capriciu’ (98% 94% nodes) culture media with zeatin indole-3-butyric acid. One advantage this procedure is beside its feasibility handling, high percentage regenerated shoots rooting. protocol contributes to existing information regarding response cultivars conditions.
